The inspiration for a run across the nation, that's how Shaun Evans describes his son Shamus, who is a 9–year–old with cerebral palsy. Shaun Evans says, "We recognized early on that he has some mobility limitations, but like any dad, I wanted to share my passion with my son, I would take him on training runs with me. ". They started on the day of our nation's birthday averaging about 50–60 miles a day. now they find themselves here in South Dakota. But for the duo, it's more than just the thrill of the run. Shaun says, "We really want kids with disabilities to be as active and as included as possible, that's what this mission is all about. And that was Shamus' idea too. Shaun says, "Right around Thanksgiving he said, 'Dad when we run across the USA. ' it was always when. 'let's donate chairs to kids with disabilities like me so they can see what it feels like to run. ' That's what sealed the deal for me. ". Their next chair recipient awaits in Sioux Falls, where they should be arriving on August 2nd. Since Shamus only comes along when circumstances permit, Shaun says there's never been a time when he's asked... Source: www.blackhillsfox.com
